Guwahati: India’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar said on July 4 that the time has come to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
He said this while addressing the 25th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati.
PTI quoted him as saying, “As envisioned by the founding fathers of the Constitution, now is the time to implement the UCC.
Dhankar is on a one-day visit to Assam where he attended the 25th convocation of IIT Guwahati today.
The Vice President’s wife is also accompanying him on his visit to Assam and was received at the airport by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Dhankar will also visit the Kamakhya temple to offer prayers and interact with IIT students in the capital Guwahati.
