IPS officer LR Bishnoi appointed new DGP of Meghalaya

Guwahati: The Meghalaya government on Monday selected IPS Officer LR Bishnoi as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya.
Bishnoi is presently filling in as Special Director-General of Police in Assam.
“From among the empanelled rundown of IPS Officers properly suggested by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in its gathering hung on ninth February, 2022 and in light of a legitimate concern for public assistance, the Governor of Meghalaya is satisfied to choose Dr. Lajja Ram Bishnoi IPS (RR 1991), Special Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), Meghalaya, Shillong in the Apex Scale of Pay (Level 17) in the Pay Matrix with impact from the date of assuming control over charge and until additional orders,” said an authority explanation.
Bishnoi, a 1991 bunch IPS official of Assam-Meghalaya unit, is a post-graduate in veterinary science
He will assume control over the charge from Idashisha Nongrang, who is presently filling in as the acting DGP of Meghalaya.
“I have not chosen at this point when to dominate (as DGP of Meghalaya). However, will come once the Assam Government sets me free from my administration,” Bishnoi said.
