Inside Construction Meghalaya Assembly dome collapses Sunday Morning

Shillong: The dome of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly building under construction in Mawdiangdiang collapsed on Sunday morning.

No casualties have been reported so far in the incident.
It is worth mentioning here that the collapsing dome in the new assembly building was recently fitted. The dome was one of the parts of the building that took a long time to build.
The crane used for lifting and installing the dome structure of the new building took about a month and a half to reach from Chennai by road.
An amount of Rs. 130 crore has been spent for the construction of new assembly building so far.

Earlier, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh said he was hopeful of moving to a new building for next autumn session.

The new building is being constructed on 80 acres of land in Mawdiangdiang , New Shilling Township. This project of Rs. 127 crore has been allotted to Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Tameer Nigam Limited which is PSU of Uttar Pradesh Government.
