Industrialists urged to invest in Tripura by CM Manik Saha on G-20

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday appealed to the business community of the country and abroad to invest in the state taking advantage of its natural resources and connectivity.

He said business delegates from the country as well as abroad are keen to invest in “electric vehicle projects in Tripura and in the sectors of healthcare, food processing, tea, rubber, bamboo and pharmaceuticals.”
“They want to immediately sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government looking at the possibilities in various sectors,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the G-20 conference on clean energy for a greener future. I said.

The two-day conference, which began on Monday, was organized at the International Fair Ground at Hapania in West Tripura district, about 10 km from Agartala.
Describing the investors’ summit as “conclusive”, Manik Saha said the government “wants to test the sustainability of any proposal as investment volume and employment prospects are key factors”.
“An investor proposed to set up a new medical college in the state but when I asked him where he would get the faculty members from? I did not agree with this suggestion because sustainability is important to any viable project.

Addressing the conference, the Chief Minister said that Tripura has started working on clean energy for sustainable development.
“Out of the state’s own 108 MW power generation, 10 MW comes from solar power. Besides, 18 solar micro-grid stations have already been set up.

Asserting that the state will “start working on green hydrocarbons using bamboo resources”, Saha said the government is keen to work with Vietnam, which is doing well in the sector.
Around 75 delegates from various G-20 countries, international organizations and NITI Aayog participated in the program on clean energy for a greener future.

Experts from Indian National Science Academy, Indian Institute of Science (IISC), National Chemical Laboratory and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and IIT Delhi also participated in the event.
