Indo-Bangla border situation is worst than Pak-India Border.

Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Monday alleged that a large part of the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Dhubri district is still “unfenced”.

A team of AASU leaders led by its general secretary Shankar Jyoti Baruah visited the international border in the district on Sunday and expressed their displeasure over the “exposed” border.
“We were surprised to see that the India-Bangladesh border along the Gangadhar river in Binnachara area near Golakganj is completely exposed,” Baruah said.

He accused both the Center and the Assam government of making “false promises to seal the border” to the Assamese people.
Baroah said the landmark Assam Accord of 1985 has completed its 37th anniversary, and “one of its major clauses to completely seal the Indo-Bangla border is still unfulfilled”.

“The government has no interest in protecting the Indo-Bangla border, and in fact, the quality of fencing in Assam is worse than that of the India-Pakistan border,” he alleged.
The student leader said all the promises being made by the Center and the state about a sealed border and various technologies being used to protect illegal migration are “false”.

AASU called on the government to use better scientific methods to seal the exposed border.
