
Indian army jawan from Maharashtra committed suicide in Manipur
Imphal: A 37-year-old jawan of the 2 Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army died by suicide in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday.
The incident occurred around 4 PM at the Loukpipat post near Loktak Lake, under the jurisdiction of Bishnupur Police Station.
Hailing from Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, the deceased jawan was stationed at the Loukpipat post.
He reportedly shot himself with his service weapon upon returning from the Leimakhong Army headquarters in Imphal.
Local police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the suicide.
The body has been sent to the RIMS Hospital morgue in Imphal for further examination.
