India-Naga-Myanmar conflict Naga in Delhi calls third-party mediate

Delhi: Nagas in Delhi on Thursday demanded the intervention of a third party to help resolve the protracted India-Naga-Myanmar dispute. Aiming to attract the attention of the G20 members attending the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Delhi, Nagas from various walks of life staged a demonstration at Kartavya Path, Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
The protest led by the Naga Students Union, Delhi (NSUD) demanded the attention of prominent international organizations including the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) and powerful states including the US, Germany. China, and the United Kingdom, among others. Intervening in the Indo-Naga conflict.
According to a statement issued by the NSUD, the Nagas, one of the indigenous communities in Northeast India and the Northwest region of Myanmar, have been fighting for their autonomy and sovereignty for more than 70 years.
“The ongoing conflict between the Nagas and the Government of India and the Government of Myanmar has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives, the displacement of millions, and a severe impact on the socio-economic development of the region. In light of the protracted conflict and towards a peaceful resolution Lacking progress, the Naga people living in Delhi have called for third-party intervention to help resolve the protracted Indo-Naga conflict,” NSUD said.
NSUD said the Nagas believed that a neutral third-party mediator could provide an impartial platform for negotiations between the Indian government and Naga leaders, leading to a lasting peace agreement, NSUD said. It is hoped that their demand for third party intervention will be heeded, and that a just and lasting solution will be found, ensuring respect for their rights and aspirations.
