India-Bangladesh Border
Agartala: A three-day regional conference between the Border Security Force (BSF) and its Bangladeshi counterpart – Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) will begin on December 7 in Agartala, Tripura.
The three-day BSF-BGB conference in Tripura will discuss several important issues related to the India-Bangladesh border.
BSF inspector general (IG) rank officers from Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya borders will attend the meeting.
On the other hand, the BGB will be represented by their South-East and North-South regional commanders.
The three-day conference is expected to cover all border issues – border patrol, smuggling, infiltration and barbed-fencing. It is a routine exercise,” a BSF official told PTI.
The smuggling of illegal substances, including narcotics, from Bangladesh through the northeastern state of Tripura has become a major concern for authorities.
