Indefinite economic blockade on NH-54 declared by Manipuri Youth

Mizoram: The All Assam Manipuri Youth Association (AAMYA) has announced an indefinite economic blockade on NH-54, the main road connecting Assam and Mizoram, from June 23. Separate administrative structure for Chin-Kuki-Zo people in Manipur.
Expressing deep displeasure at the response of the Mizo National Front (MNF) supporting the demand for a separate administrative structure, AAMYA highlighted the irrelevance of invoking Article 3 of the Indian Constitution in the context of Manipur.
The association emphasizes that Manipur’s border has been recognized by the international community since its merger with India on 21 September 1949.
Appreciating Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s statement, particularly his support for the Manipur government and the central government’s initiatives, AAMYA insists that the MNF publicly declares the separate administration of the Chin-Kuki-Zo people. announces withdrawal of support. AAMYA believes that such a step is necessary to maintain regional peace and the integrity of Manipur.
AAMYA seeks clarification from the Mizoram government on whether Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s statement is meant to withdraw support for the demand for a separate administration.
AAMYA has set a deadline of June 22, 2023 for a response, with expectations of Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s active support in safeguarding Manipur’s territorial integrity and a public announcement of MNF’s withdrawal.
Failure to provide clarification by the specified date will be seen as an attempt to sabotage AAMYA’s plans, prompting the association to proceed with its resolution.
Exceptions to the economic blockade include essential services, ambulance operations, students attending exams and interviews, weddings and religious ceremonies, as well as other emergency humanitarian work.
