In Wow drive car rally 40 women will particiapte across three NE states

Guwahati: It’s a ‘Wow’ moment celebrating woman power in this Bhogali Bihu neck of the woods!Around 40 brave and courageous women from different parts of the country gathered here at the Raj Bhavan on the morning of ‘Uruka’ and began a 40,000 km journey across three northeastern states – Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
A car rally of sorts, aptly called the “WOW Drive” (or “Women on Wheel Drive”), was flagged off from the Raj Bhavan by the Governor of Assam, Professor Jagdish Mukhi, in the presence of State Minister for Electricity Nandita Gorlosa.

In particular, the seven-day “Wow Drive” organized by the amazing Namaste Foundation, marks the celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The National Commission for Women and the State Women’s Commissions of the respective states are supporting the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Mukhi recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had always described the North East as the future of the country.

“These eight states, named ‘Ashtalakshmi’, are witnessing phenomenal growth. Especially in the last few years, the infrastructure work in the region has been exemplary. And air connectivity, water and internet have benefited a lot. Along with this, employment opportunities have increased manifold.
The Governor praised the wonderful Namaste Foundation and said, “It is a great and innovative concept. I am happy to organize this unique event from Guwahati with the blessings of Maa Kamakhya on the auspicious day of Bhogli Bihu in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” I am sure that all the participants will experience the warmth of the people of the Northeast and the unique culture of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gorlosa highlighted the importance of this programme, which is the main component of promoting ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

Welcoming the participants, he urged them to become ambassadors of the North East region and spread the message of friendship and compassion to the outsiders.
Padmashri Dr. Deepa Malik, who also spoke on the occasion, said that such events will help everyone to know about the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India and encourage more people to visit the region. Will be encouraged to do so.

Atul Kulkarni, Chairman of Amazing Namaste Foundation, while speaking on the occasion, gave a brief outline of the foundation’s activities.
After the huge success of last year’s North East on Wheels (NEW) motorcycle campaign, the organization decided to hold this all-women event to highlight the changing landscape of the region.
The participants are divided into two groups and appropriately named after the rivers they will cross – Kameng and Kopili.
During the week-long rally, the Kameng group will pass through Pakke Tiger Reserve, Tezpur and Itanagar, while the Kopili group will pass through places like Mawlynnong, Dawki and Haflong.

A number of events are organized on both routes, including a jungle safari at the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, music and dance programs by local people and talks with local artisans.
