In World Combat Games Tripura athlete Rejina to represent India

Agartala: Tripura-based Muay Thai athlete Rejina Debbarma will represent India in the World Combat Games organized by the World Sports Association of International Sports Federations which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Sharing the information, her coach Prasenjit Singha said he was impressed with Regina’s success and called it a positive sign of the state’s prowess in combat sports.
“She comes from a humble background and is very talented.

I am selflessly trying to develop the game and I have seen many talented players. If they get proper training and encouraging environment, they can reach their full potential. One can achieve great success in career,” Singha said.
Stating that financial constraints are a major hurdle, he added, “Many talented athletes fail to pursue their playing career in combat sports due to financial crisis.

I am very excited and happy to see this.” That at least one athlete from our state has been selected in such prestigious war games.
She also said that Tripura athletes have the potential to make it to the Olympics one day.

“Muay Thai has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee and it is my dream to have an athlete from Tripura compete in the Olympics for India in the near future,” he told.
The World Combat Games will be held in Saudi Arabia from 26 October to 01 November 2023.
“I am sure your state association should be proud that your organization’s hard work and dedication has paid off and athletes from your state have been selected to represent India at the prestigious World War Games.

Where all combat sports like boxing, wushu, karate are included, sambo, taekwondo, sambo etc. will be contested.
It is for information that the World Combat Competition is organized by the World Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC),” reads Debbarma’s election letter.
