
In wild Elephant attack a soldier crushed to death in Guwahati
Assam:In a dire turn of events, an army jawan was allegedly crushed to death after a wild elephant allegedly attacked him in a cantonment in Guwahati.
The soldier has been identified as Khamliyong Khap, a resident of Dimapur.
An official source from the site confirmed to India Today NE that the incident took place on the evening of February 10 at the Narengi cantonment of the Indian Army in Guwahati.
“It was a very sad evening, which led to this tragedy,” he added.Sources also claimed that the jawan, who was seriously injured in the elephant attack, was taken to the Army Base Hospital in Basistha, Guwahati, where he died.
It is important to mention here that elephants often leave the nearby Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary in search of food. Elephants in the wild can often be seen roaming around the camp area.
