Manipur: According to police sources, a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) exploded inside the Money Secretariat campus in Manipur’s Ukhrul district on the evening of March 21. The blast, which police believe was caused by a hurled IED bomb, took place in the north block of the Money Secretariat in the district headquarters around 4:35 pm.
No loss of life or property was reported from the blast site, although the incident could have had tragic consequences. The police have expressed hope that significant progress will be made in the case soon.
No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. In a separate incident earlier that day, around 8 am, a police team safely defused a bomb near the water supply office in the town.
