Imphal: Security forces have arrested three freedom-fighters in two separate operations in Kakching and Tengnoupal districts, an official said.
Assam Rifles troops on Sunday arrested an active freedom-fighter of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Serou in Kakching district, according to an official report.
Based on specific input received from its own intelligence team, troops of the Assam Rifles launched a joint operation with a team of police commandos that led to the arrest of the active fighter, the official said.
The arrested revolt has been handed over to Sugnu police station for further investigation.
In another incident, two active freedom-fighters, including a woman, belonging to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were arrested in Tengnoupal district on Saturday.
Based on specific information about the movement of suspected insurgent cadres, Assam Rifles troops activated a quick reaction team at the permanent vehicle check post, Khudengthabi, according to the official report. The operation resulted in the arrest of two workers who were found traveling in a taxi.
Both the arrested freedom-fighters have confessed to being PLA members and have been handed over to Mora police station for further investigation, the official said.
