In Torbung Kuki militants attack 16th Kumaon Regiment using RPG

Torbung: At around 2:00 pm today, Kuki militants fired at the 16th Kumaon Regiment stationed at Torbung Sabal Leikai using RPG3. After that, they continued their attack by firing mortar shells at 193 Bn D-Coy CRPF stationed at Torbung around 4 pm on Sunday.
Three suspected Kuki militants were reportedly killed and one injured in heavy firing in Torbung area of ​​Bishnupur district today. The clash took place between security forces, village volunteers and Kuki militants and continued from late Saturday to Sunday morning.
A woman was shot in the stomach around 4 am as a result of a clash between armed militant groups. The injured woman, identified as 24-year-old Seinaz, is currently undergoing treatment at the Raj Medical Center in Imphal. She is the wife of Md Graffer Khan of Kwakta Ward No.1.
A bulletproof vehicle of the Assam Rifles was also destroyed in a bomb blast launched by the militants near Kuki militant area. According to sources, some personnel of Assam Rifles may be injured in this incident.
The situation escalated when Kuki militants set fire to a school in their area around 6 pm on Saturday. Kuki militants cleared the school premises before the fire broke out. When the 10th Battalion BSF men and women tried to approach the school, the militants opened fire.
In response to the attack, BSF personnel retaliated. Additionally, the 16-Kumaon Regiment was dispatched to assist the BSF. Later, around 9 pm, village volunteers also joined the gunfight.
During the clash, some women who had sided with the Kuki militants from the Kangvai side used the microphone to appeal for an end to the violence on both sides.
However, their pleas went unanswered, and the firing continued, reportedly resulting in the death of three Kuki militants.

After a moment of silence from Kukis, an ambulance arrived at the scene. However, as soon as the ambulance left, the militants started attacking again.
Kuki militants launched another attack at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning by firing ten mortar shells at Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai Ward No. 9. Shockingly, three shells failed to explode.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Torbung to prevent further escalation of violence and ensure the safety and security of civilians in the area.

As of now, investigations are on to determine the motive behind the attack and identify any possible links with other militant groups.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the volatile security situation in some areas and the constant threat to security forces and civilians.
