In Thoubal 28 years old killed, three injured in security forces firing

Imphal: As violence continues in Manipur, it was reported on Tuesday afternoon that a 28-year-old youth was killed and three others were injured after security forces opened fire on a group of unruly youths in Thoubal.

The incident was reported near the 3rd India Reserve Battalion (IRB) post in Thoubal district of Manipur.
Security forces opened fire when a group of unruly youths tried to forcefully snatch arms and ammunition from the 3rd IRB post in Wangbal.

According to official sources, in response to the youth’s aggressive actions, a joint team of 3rd IRB and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel resorted to defensive firing.
The situation escalated when angry youths destroyed a vehicle of the security forces and set fire to the house of an IRB official, who is believed to have played a major role in the clash.

As news of the firing and injuries spread, tension spread in the area, with a large number of women blocking the Imphal Moreh Road in protest.
However, the authorities have assured that the situation is currently under control.

28-year-old Ronaldo, a resident of Kabow Leikai, Heirok Part 3, Thoubal District, died on the spot after being shot in the head.
Three others sustained bullet injuries as security forces resorted to tear gas to regain control.

The injured youths were immediately rushed to the nearest district hospital for medical treatment and later shifted to various hospitals in Imphal for further care.
