In Tengnoupal a BSF jawan lost his life in gunfight with miscreants

Manipur: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan lost his life in an attack by armed miscreants in Tengnoupal district.
In a tweet, the BSF wrote, “Narender Kumar of 122 Bn BSF has been deployed to maintain law and order in Manipur’sTengnoupal district. Armed miscreants attacked Moreh Bazar, houses set ablaze.” and fired indiscriminately. He lost his life, making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.”
Earlier on June 23, armed miscreants were engaged in an armed encounter with security forces in N. Boljang village, located in Kangchup Geljang Sub-division of Saitu Assembly Constituency in Kangpokpi District. The incident took place on the morning of June 22, adding to the ongoing violence that has gripped the outskirts of Manipur.
The miscreants opened fire unprovokedly at Tangnaum village, formerly known as Haraothel. An Indian Army jawan was injured during the attack and was later shifted to the Military Hospital in Leimakhong for medical treatment.
Within an hour and a half after the attack on Tangnaum village, another village named Mongneljang in Saikul Sub-division of Kongpokpi District was also attacked by suspected armed miscreants. The attackers targeted the village around 7:30 p.m., raising the level of violence in the area.
Amid the ongoing clashes in Manipur that have already claimed several lives, a total of firearms and 63 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from Tengnoupal and Imphal East districts in the last 24 hours.

According to Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, a total of 1,040 weapons, 13,601 rounds of ammunition and 230 different types of bombs have been recovered so far.
