In Tali Sushmita sen as transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant

The teaser of the upcoming web series Taali was released on Saturday (July 29).

Tali stars Sushmita Sen in the role of popular transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.
The teaser depicts the college days of Shreegauri Sawant and her pivotal contribution that revolutionized the transgender movement in India.

Sushmita is seen in a powerful and intense avatar that she wants self respect, dignity and freedom.
The story depicts activist Shreegauri Sawant’s struggle for third gender recognition in India.

Talking about the web series, actress Sushmita Sen said that it is the story of Shreegauri Sawant’s journey which shows struggle, resilience and indomitable strength.
Sushmita is proud and grateful to have undertaken this challenging journey that has witnessed a revolution for the transgender community and is excited to be associated with Viacom 18.

Tali is written by Kshitij Patwardhan and produced by Arjun Singh Baran, Kartk D Nishandar and Afeefa Nadiadwala.
The web series also stars Ankur Bhatia, Aishwarya Narkar and Hemangi Kavi and is created by Arjun Singh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar.

Shreegauri Sawant is a transgender activist from Mumbai.

She was one of the petitioners in the NALSA case filed in 2013.
The National Legal Services Authority of India (NALSA) filed a case to legally recognize a “third gender” in the country that does not fall under the male/female category.

She is also the director of Sakhi Char Chowghi, an organization that supports the transgender community and HIV/AIDS patients.

She was also the first transgender to petition the Supreme Court for the right to adopt transgender women in 2014.
