Sonari: Unidentified miscreants opened fire in Assam’s Sonari late on Sunday night, creating a tense atmosphere in the area, reports emerged today.
According to initial reports, the incident took place at Kanubari tea estate in Sonari of Assam’s Charaideo district along the inter-state border with Nagaland.

According to the information received, the altercation was started by two Naga miscreants who came on a motorcycle and opened fire.
The miscreants were reportedly armed with homemade pistols and opened fire on the premises of T Estate injuring two laborers working there.
Hearing the sounds of gunshots, the workers got scared and came out in an attempt to escape, but were hit and injured.

The injured have been identified as Dandu Mahali and Suresh Munda, officials said.
One of the injured told reporters that the incident took place around 8.30 pm. He said that I was talking on the phone when the two reached the motorcycle, the lights were off and I was with them (the other injured). They came and started shooting at us. We got scared and ran away. But my foot hurt. We somehow managed to save our lives.”
