Silchar: On the evening of July 5, a violent encounter took place in Shildubi Part-2 village of Silchar, in which one person was seriously injured. Residents reported the incident to the police as soon as they heard gunshots.
On receiving the information, a police team reached the spot to further investigate the matter. Eyewitnesses informed the police that there was an argument between members of a certain group, which led to the commotion.
Two persons, identified as Haider Hussain (36 years) and Shamim Ahmed Laskar (19 years), were caught by alert villagers.
Haider Hussain sustained serious injuries during the altercation and was later taken to SMCH, Silchar for medical examination. Meanwhile, Shamim Ahmed Laskar was also brought to the police station for further questioning.
During a thorough search, the police recovered 12 live ammunition from the arrested persons. When he was questioned about the incident, he claimed that he was attacked by another gang. However, sources say that the dispute arose out of differences over the distribution of money within their own group.
