Silchar: In a shocking incident, a minor was allegedly beaten to death for playing mobile games in Assam’s Silchar.
The incident took place on Monday evening when the accused asked the minor boy to stop playing video games on his mobile phone as exams were going on.
According to the police, an FIR has been registered on behalf of the victim’s family as a case of suspected murder and the accused Dipak Nath has been arrested accordingly.
The victim’s father said that on Monday evening, his son had gone to a neighbor’s house and a man there physically assaulted him for playing video games on his mobile phone.
“In my absence, he went to that house and after a verbal conversation, the man dragged my son to a field, beat him, and left him unconscious. That’s when my wife saw him for the first time. So we rushed him to the hospital but by then it was too late,” the father told reporters.
“Such incidents are always tragic. We have met the family members of the deceased and taken their statements. We are probing the case to see if there is any other angle,” Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said.
The SP said that although the fight started over a mobile video game according to onlookers, there are other reasons behind the minor’s death.
