Imphal: A team led by Power Minister Thongam Biswajit, Patsoi MLA Sapam Keba and Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District. Kirankumar visited the CRPF battalion camp in Lamphel on Tuesday.
Most of the stranded people who took shelter in camps set up by the 1st Manipur Rifles, 2nd Manipur Rifles and 86th CRPF in Imphal’s Lamphel area after the May 3 violence in Manipur were transferred to sheltered on Tuesday, Biswajit said.
These camps are kept in high security zone and no outsiders including media persons are allowed to enter.
Th. Biswajit said that out of more than 6,000 people sheltered in the 143 Battalion CRPF camp at Lamphel, about 3,500 people have been evacuated, while another 200 people have been shifted to Chandel, Tengnoupal and Moreh with the help of the Assam Rifles. will be done Of the 3,000 people sheltered in the 86 Battalion CRPF camp, 1,200 people are still awaiting evacuation.
Minister Thongam Baswajit assured that the evacuation of people from various places including Mantripukhri and Langjing will continue. He expressed confidence that the evacuation of all the displaced persons would be completed in the next few days.
