Manipur: Sources said that one security personnel was killed and two others were injured in an operation against Kuki militants in Serou in Manipur’s Kakching district on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, a BSF jawan died after being shot by suspected Kuki militants while on duty at Morcha camp at around 6.47 am. The deceased has been identified as one Ranjit Yadav, constable number 0810906.
Sources said Kuki militants attacked A/163 Ad Hoc M&C 4Bn BSF posted at Sero Practical High School under Sugnu Police Station in Kakching district around 6.47 am on Tuesday.
During the attack, Ranjit was shot on the left shoulder, and the bullet exited his chest, sources said, adding that a further report received at 7.35 am said that the BSF personnel was undergoing treatment at Jiban Hospital in Kakching. Died while bringing.
Meanwhile, two Assam Rifles personnel sustained bullet injuries when the 37-AR team retaliated against an attack by suspected Kuki militants in Serou on Tuesday morning, sources added.
According to reports, on Monday, a villager was reportedly killed and several others injured when suspected Kuki militants ambushed a joint team that was trying to push into militant territory in Serou.
