Manipur: The Indian Army has focused on dominating the Indo-Myanmar border, cordoning off vulnerable areas in the hinterlands and taking steps to reassure locals of all communities.
The Indian Army, in consultation with the Manipur government and other stakeholders, has taken fresh and extensive security measures to address the fears of members of all communities, especially those living in marginal and vulnerable areas outside the state capital Imphal.
A robust multi-agency in-grid (Security Coordinating System) among other measures is in place to ensure the continuation of the hard-earned peace in the northeastern state.
More than 128 columns of Indian Army and Assam Rifles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) are continuously engaged in dominating the area to ensure early restoration of full normalcy.
Long-term patrols, properly equipped, and in groups with rifle women of the Assam Rifles, were sent to the fringes and vulnerable areas in the last 72 hours, after consultation with the state government.
Patrols manning these areas visited several villages in the communities, and interacted with local people, women and influential people, not only assuring them of their safety, but also providing much-needed assistance.
Providing medical aid ‘in situ’ by paramedics, including conducting prophylactic medical evacuation, were among the many activities carried out by these patrols.
A violent incident of firing in Saparmeina village of Senapati district was quickly retaliated by security forces and brought under control.
While the local people of the communities have expressed their desire for a sense of lasting peace, some measures such as day and night zone control, surveillance at designated flashpoints, by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of all communities in Manipur. Engagement with and employment of quadcopters, tracker dogs. And UAVs are there to thwart any expeditionary attempts by hostile elements.
Controlling the Indo-Myanmar border is also being effectively enforced to prevent any insurgency by insurgent groups.
Round-the-clock surveillance by Dominion patrols and the employment of UAVs, quadcopters and tracker dogs have played a significant role in stopping various insurgent groups taking advantage of the prevailing situation.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles on Monday airlifted 96 stranded people from Phaisenjang near the Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel district.
All 96 people were resettled in the Assam Rifles camp since the clash started on 4 May.
Due to the remoteness of the Assam Rifles camp and keeping the comfort of the locals at a premium, air evacuation using Air Force Mi-17 helicopters was considered indispensable.
Security, medical, food, accommodation during their stay with the Assam Rifles as well as telecommunication when required, meeting with their relatives on their return home.
The Indian Army appeals to all sections of the people of Manipur to support the efforts of the security forces in maintaining hard-earned peace and promoting harmony and to counter any attempt to spread hatred and misinformation. To prevent, stop attempts to spread hatred either towards them or against everyone Usually others.
