In Pune 2 Naga boys attacked and robbed by unknown assailants

Guwahati: Two teenage boys from Nagaland were brutally attacked and robbed by a group of unidentified assailants on Saturday evening in Pune.

The incident occurred at the Baner tekdi (Hill), a popular hill in the city.

According to the police complaint filed  at Chaturshringi police station on Sunday, the victims, both 19-year-old students at Spicer College in Aundh Road, were walking in the area around 7:30 PM when they were confronted by four men.

The assailants, armed with an iron weapon, threatened the teenagers and demanded their belongings. They stole a cell phone and other valuables worth Rs 20,000.

When one of the victims refused to provide the password to their phone, the robbers allegedly attacked them, injuring their knees. The teenagers shouted for help, causing the assailants to flee the scene. The injured victim, who reside at Navi Sangvi, was taken to a nearby government hospital for treatment.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify and apprehend the suspects. This is not the first time a robbery has occurred in the Baner hill area.

In August 2021, a wildlife photographer was also robbed by two individuals. The police successfully arrested the suspects in that case.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area, particularly for visitors and students from outside the city.
