Dimapur: A “Kisan Mela and Interaction of Scientists with Farmers” under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) organized by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren. The program was organized in Poilwa village of Peren district of Nagaland.
A press release by KV Peren said that the program was organized to educate farmers in the hill sector about modern agricultural developments and technologies.
Resource persons included ACTO KVK Peren, Dr. Patu K. Zeliang, ACTO, KVK Peren, Z. James Kikon and Scientist, Fisheries, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, Jharnapani, Dr. Jyotish Burman.
During the programme, farmers were informed about management practices of seasonal vegetable cultivation, importance of soil and water quality in fish production and various integrated fish farming models by resource persons.
Various posters on hill water storage structures, cultivation of king chillies, maize and vegetables, backyard chicken and pig rearing were displayed for the benefit of the farming community.
In the group discussions, various problems of farmers and management measures were discussed. 63 farmers and officials of Poilwa, Poilwa Namci village participated in the programme.
