In Pathsala 18-years-old girl dies on spot after falling from hostel roof

Pathsala: An 18-year-old girl died after falling from the roof of her private hostel building at Pathsala in Barpeta district of lower Assam on Thursday.

The girl was standing on the roof of a two-storey building to hang wet clothes when she slipped and fell. The girl, identified as Rishita Das, died on the spot.
She belonged to Baghmara region and was a 12th standard student at Krishna Kanta Handiqui Junior College in Pathsala.

Locals said she fell from the building as the roof has no walls.
After the incident, a police team reached the spot and started investigating the incident.

Her body has been sent to Barpeta Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
“There are many private hostels in Pathsala, which are running without basic security measures. Some private hostel owners are running them just to make money, ignoring the safety of the inmates. They have ruined the lives of many students. has endangered,” said a local resident.

He said that the police should take action against the hostel owners for not taking safety measures.
