New Delhi: Under Manipur Coordination Committee (Delhi), thousands of Meitei community on Sunday staged a peace demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, demanding restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur and condemning divisive politics.
A release issued by the Manipur Coordination Committee (Delhi), a group of Manipur CSOs and student organizations in Delhi supported by democratic groups from other parts of India, said that the demonstration Meanwhile, the participants called for peace and normalcy in the state and categorically condemned it. The divisive politics is allegedly initiated by the drug mafia and the armed militant groups of Chin-Kuki-Zu and is supported by the respective political classes.
It said that despite the large-scale combing operation by central and state forces, the violence continued.
“The violence is orchestrated by the drug mafia and kuki militants and further supported by the political class. And the unshakable Meitei community have become victims of this outrageous revenge,” it read.
He urged the authorities to straighten the facts against fake news and false propaganda, saying that since the violence started in Manipur on May 3, there has been a lot of fake news and false propaganda circulating on social media, and national and international news channels
He added, “Meiteis have been portrayed as perpetrators of violence in the valley districts, however, incidents of burning of Meiteis houses in the Kuki-majority areas of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts have not been brought to light.
He alleged that the reality behind the anti-reservation protests was a web of operations orchestrated by a nexus of Kuki militants, frontal organizations, intellectuals and politicians.
He maintained that even 30 days after the violence erupted, several houses were set on fire by Kuki militants on Friday in Sugnu, Kakching district, and 10 days later Indian army and paramilitary forces Despite the deployment of troops, Meitei village in Torbung.
