New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday June 07 met protestors from the tribal communities of Manipur in New Delhi.
The protesters reportedly presented a three-point charter of demand to the Union Home Minister.
Tribal protesters from Manipur marched towards Amit Shah’s residence and demonstrated outside the Union Home Minister’s house.
Protesters reached the Union Home Minister’s residence on Wednesday morning and demanded a meeting with him.
After which security was increased outside the home minister’s residence.
Later, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met a few representatives of the tribal protesters.
The protesters belonged to the Kuki-Zumi-Hmar-Mizo tribes of Manipur, who are living in the national capital.
Protesters carried placards reading “Tribal lives matter” and “Article 356 not 355”, while marching towards Amit Shah’s residence and later protesting.
The protesters demanded early restoration of peace in Manipur and safety of people belonging to tribal communities in Manipur.
It may be noted that the state of Manipur has been on the boil since May 3 following clashes between two communities and subsequent large-scale violence.
Around 100 people have lost their lives and thousands have been displaced in the state following the clashes and subsequent violence.
