Nagaon: A sub-inspector serving in the Assam Police has been arrested for allegedly accepting bribe in Nagaon district of the state.
The accused sub-inspector was caught red-handed by officials of Assam’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DV&AC) for allegedly accepting bribes.
The accused has been identified as Suruzul Haque.
Haque is posted as Sub-Inspector in Nagaon Police Station, Assam.
“The team (DV&AC) laid a trap for the accused and arrested him while taking bribe from the complainant,” officials said.
The accused officer had allegedly demanded bribe from the complainant for granting relief in an old pending case.
Officials added that necessary legal action is underway.
