In Myanmar three dead, destruction of houses ; Cyclone Mocha

Cyclone Mocha hits Myanmar leaving a path of destruction.

Rescuers are struggling to assess the extent of the damage as the storm has disrupted communications.

With sustained winds of 250 km/h (155 mph), Mocha made landfall between Sittwe in Myanmar and Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.

Sittwe, the capital of Myanmar’s Rakhine State, has been badly damaged by Cyclone Mocha.
According to an update from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), widespread flooding has also been reported from low-lying areas.

Myanmar’s Military Information Office said the storm caused damage in Sittwe, Kyaukpyu and Goa townships.
The storm damaged houses, power transformers, cell phone towers, boats and lamp posts and tore roofs off buildings.

At least three people have been killed in Myanmar.
