Assam: Seven businesses were gutted in a massive fire at Mukalmua in Assam’s Nalbari district.
The fire was reported from a market area of Rampur in Mukalmua on Monday night. According to locals of the area, the fire is suspected to have started from a hotel called Bhaiti Cabin.
According to the local people of Rampur, properties worth crores of rupees were destroyed in the fire. He also said that at least 7 businesses including a restaurant, a pharmacy, a hardware shop, book stalls and stationery shops were gutted in the fire.
Meanwhile, as soon as the incident was reported, fire fighting personnel and police reached the spot. Currently, the fire has been brought under control.
Fortunately, no loss of life or property was reported in this incident.
Talking about the incident, a local of Rampur said, “Around seven businesses and shops were gutted in the massive fire. We suspect that the fire in the hotel named ‘Bhaiti Cabin’ was caused by a short circuit. It then expanded to nearby shops with two pharmacies, a hardware store, book stalls and a retail outlet.
“We then informed the police and fire department about the incident. Soon after that at least 6 fire tenders arrived. They started rescue operations and managed to bring the fire under control after continuous efforts. ,” the local resident added.
The locals also appealed to the authorities to set up a fire brigade station in the market area as the area is prone to fire incidents.
A massive fire broke out in Assam’s Barpeta on Sunday night, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees. According to sources, the incident took place in Baghbar area of Barpeta where at least seven shops were gutted due to fire.
Property worth around Rs 10,000 was damaged in a fire in front of Baghbar High School in Barpeta. 40 lakh It has come to light that a cylinder burst at the tea shop, causing the fire to spread rapidly to other shops. The fire brigade reached the spot and successfully brought the fire under control.
