In Morigaon Tiwa party Yuva burns effigy of CM Biswa Sarma

Morigaon: All Tiwa Students’ Union, Tiwa Yuva Chhatra Parishad, and Tiwa Suraksha Samiti burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Morigaon on June 2.
The protest comes amid growing concerns over the chief minister’s recent remarks on land ownership in the tribal belt and block.
Tiwa Party organizations have been in turmoil following Chief Minister Sarma’s statement, which allows the Bengali Scheduled Caste community to purchase land in tribal belt areas. The decision has sparked outrage and deepened divisions between communities.
The leadership of All Tiwa Students’ Union, Tiwa Yuva Chhatra Parishad, and Tiwa Suraksha Samiti expressed their dissatisfaction and frustration by chanting slogans like “Himanta Biswa Sarma Marda Bad” (Down with Himanta Biswa Sarma), and “Himanta Biswa Sarma”.
Amid rising tensions, a protester expressed concern that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government has repeatedly shown a disturbing pattern of dishonesty and disregard for democracy.
Protesters expressed further frustration at the government’s apparent intent to undermine Tiwa culture and traditions.
The implementation of the Smart City project has raised suspicions that it could become a means of eradicating and diminishing these valuable aspects of Tiwa heritage.
