Imphal: The death toll in a militant attack on security personnel in Manipur’s Moreh on Wednesday (January 17) has risen to two.
Another security personnel succumbed to his injuries in an early morning attack by militants in Manipur’s Moreh on Wednesday (January 17).
The slain security official has been identified as Takhellambam Saileshware, a constable in the Manipur police department and posted at Moreh police station.
He was shot by a sniper while on duty.
His remains are still lying in Manipur’s Moreh police station while the first victim of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) W Somorjit was airlifted from Moreh to Imphal along with two injured police commandos.
The injured are being treated at RIMS Hospital in Imphal, Manipur.
SP T Krishnatombi Singh of the Special Commando Unit of the Manipur Police said that Myanmar-based militants and kooky cadres of various organizations launched an all-out operation against the Manipur security forces at 3 am on Wednesday (January 17).
He claimed that foreign mercenaries are using sophisticated weapons in attacks while the state forces are on defense with outdated weapons as well as shortage of arms and ammunition.
