Guwahati: A youth from Moran in Assam’s Dibrugarh district has joined the ULFA-I led by Paresh Baruah.
The youth who joined the revolutionary outfit from Assam has been identified as Palash Kanwar.
Kanwar’s joining ULFA-I comes despite Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh’s appeal to youth in the state to refrain from joining the outfit.
Palash Kanwar, who joined ULFA-I, has released a video on social media confirming his loyalty to the organisation.
Meanwhile, the youth’s family has pleaded with ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah to ensure his safe return home.
Earlier, an MMA athlete from Assam’s Bajali district was allegedly hanged by the outlawed Alpha-I for trying to escape from the outfit’s camp in Myanmar.
Abhinash Kalita joined ULFA-I in March 2022 but allegedly tried to escape from the camp in early September this year along with another freedom fighter named Deep Exom alias Tanmoy Bora.
Reacting to the ‘hanging’ of Anhinash Kalita, Assam DGPGP Singh urged the youth of the state not to waste their lives for a ‘tyrannical’ outfit like ULFA-I.
“Again, same story. They won’t change. Young friends of Assam, don’t waste your lives for a dictatorial organization. Your lives are worth nothing there. Please, please, please,” DGP GP Singh said.
