Guwahati: The water supply system in Guwahati, Assam, which received assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will reportedly remain suspended till June 6.

Technicians from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) are currently investigating the cause of the malfunction in the process with a comprehensive review of the entire infrastructure.
After completion of all necessary tests and monitoring activities, repair work is to begin.
Sources reveal that the residents of Guwahati are expected to have water supply restored by June 7 or 8.

It should be noted that within the same week, there were two incidents of water pipeline bursting at separate places in Guwahati.
The first incident occurred on May 25 in the Kharguli area when a pipe in a Gammon JICA water supply main line burst, resulting in a huge rush of water that washed away several vehicles and damaged at least 40 houses. reached. Sadly, one person lost his life in the incident, and around 19 others were injured.
The second incident occurred under the under-construction Maligaon flyover in Guwahati city, causing significant water leakage and traffic congestion on Monday morning.
