In Manipur security agencies fears of resurgence of insurgency

New Delhi: Security agencies have warned against a resurgence of insurgency activities in the conflict-hit northeastern state of Manipur.

According to a PTI report, security agencies have also said that members of banned outfits mingle with the crowd during protests to escalate tensions in Manipur.
The warning by central security agencies comes after a face-off between protesters and security forces in Mulnoi village near Pallel in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district last week.

The report claimed that members of banned groups United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were allegedly part of the crowd from which an army officer was shot at in Manipur. He was seriously injured.
The injured army personnel has been identified as Lt Col Raman Tyagi.
According to security agencies, dormant rebel organizations such as UNLF, PLA, Kanglei Yawol Kanba Lup (KYKL) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) – have resumed subversive operations.
