Imphal: Representatives of Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee met Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikeyat Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Tuesday and apprised them of the current situation following the ethnic clashes between Meitei and Kuki communities that started on May 3.
In a release on Tuesday, the Governor’s Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, said they have earnestly requested the Governor to restore peace and order in the state and make arrangements for the return of the displaced people who are sheltered in various relief camps. are taken Both valley and hill districts at their respective locations.
The governor advised them to extend their full cooperation to the security forces who are performing their duties to control the situation and restore normalcy in the state. He also reiterated that the state has been facing untold suffering for the past two months which has really affected all sectors.
The governor further reiterated that he has informed the Prime Minister about the horrific incident and requested him to provide all possible assistance to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Commander, 25 BRTF, Col. Atul Kumar also called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and apprised him of the progress of fencing the Indo-Myanmar border and further fencing work.
The governor advised the commander to speed up the work to curb illegal activities in the border areas as well as the entry of insurgents and anti-social elements from neighboring countries into the state.
The Governor also discussed the current situation with former Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha Dr. Th Meinya Singh. He informed them about the joint program of measures already taken by the Central and State Governments to bring peace and tranquility to the state at the earliest.
