Imphal: Militants of the Meitei have allegedly carried out a gruesome attack on Kuki village in Langza and Chinglangmei areas of Manipur’s Chaurachandpur district.
Chinglangmei is about 70 km southeast of Imphal.
Militants reportedly beheaded a volunteer from Kuki village, identified as David Thiek, during the attack on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the militants also set fire to another church and several houses in Langza village near Sagang area.
Reports further stated that five villagers were taken hostage by the militants, adding to the already tense situation.
The situation is particularly dire in Langza village near Sagang, as miscreants also set fire to a church, adding to the plight of the affected communities.
The clashes between the Kukis and Meiteis, which began on May 3, have so far claimed the lives of around 160 people, while many others have been injured.
In a separate incident, three Meiteis were shot dead by suspected Kuki tribal militants in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Sunday.
The incident took place at 12:10 am on Sunday in Khujuma Tabi village of Kumbi area.
