In Lakhimpur CRPF jawan drown to death while on picnic

Guwahati: Lakhimpur district of Assam is in a state of grief following a tragic incident on January 1, 2024, where a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, identified as Simanta Saikia, lost his life in a tragic accident.
The incident took place when Saikia was returning from a picnic in Jamugurihat with his wife and child.
An ominous turn of events occurred when a vehicle carrying the Saikia family went out of control and plunged into the waters of the Sabansiri river. Saikia’s wife and child managed to escape from the vehicle and reach the river bank, but unfortunately the CRPF jawan drowned.
The local residents immediately responded to the trouble and tried to pull the vehicle out of the river. Despite his heroic efforts, he failed to save the life of the CRPF jawan.
