In Kuki-Zo dominated area near Myanmar border, 21 IEDs retrieved

Imphal: A major Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack on National Highway 102 near Bonyang to Sinam village in Kuki-Zo dominated Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, bordering Myanmar in the south, was averted on Tuesday.
According to security forces, an alert road-opening party of Assam Rifles at a location near Bonyang to Sinam recovered a plastic bag containing a total of 21 high-powered IEDs and three light red coils of wire 30 meters long.
The militants had planted the IEDs on the national highway connecting Imphal, India’s last border town of Moreh in the Manipur sector with Myanmar in the south.

A number of civilian and military vehicles drove past the site where the explosives were planted.
A team of bomb experts from the state and central forces reached the spot soon after the discovery of the explosives was reported and recovered the material safely.

Later the recovered items have been handed over to the nearest police station for further investigation and legal proceedings, the sources added.

It is noteworthy that the Indian Army and state forces continue their campaigns against insurgents in Manipur, conducting operations to target and eliminate them for restoration of peace in this strife-torn state.
