Imphal: Official sources said the Manipur government has lifted the relaxation of curfew and on Wednesday, July 19, full curfew was restored in all Valley and Kuki-affected hill districts.
The Kuki-majority hill districts of the state include Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, while the valley districts include Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur.
Earlier on Tuesday, the district administrations of Imphal East and Imphal West districts announced in separate orders that the daytime curfew would be relaxed from 5 am to 6 pm in the two districts, while curfew from Keishampat Junction areas would remain in effect. The relaxation of curfew till the ground was withdrawn.
However, in view of the ongoing unrest in the state, a complete curfew has been imposed in all valleys and Kuki-dominated hill districts on Wednesday.
An indefinite curfew has been imposed in all vulnerable districts of the state from 7 pm on May 3 following communal clashes in the state.
Daily curfew was lifted in all districts so that people could shop for essential items and reflect on the law and order situation in the state.
However, movement of persons related to essential services like health, electricity, PHED, schools and colleges, municipalities, press and electronic media, functioning of courts, and movement of flight passengers at the airport. Curfew is exempted, the order said.
