Kokrajhar: A shocking discovery was made in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on July 9, as a partially torn flag of the United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) was found stuck to a bamboo fence.
The incident took place on the border of Diajijiri and Bhutiapara villages. Locals suspect that unknown miscreants have nefarious intentions.
According to local reports, a torn flag of banned militant outfit ULFA-I was seen hanging on a bamboo fence along the Public Works Department (PWD) road that connects the two villages. Shocked by the discovery, residents immediately alerted the authorities about the presence of the flag.
On receiving the information, a team of Assam Police reached the spot to investigate the matter and ensure public safety. The police carefully removed the partially torn ULFA-I flag from the bamboo fence.
Although the origin of the torn flag is still unclear, locals believe that unknown miscreants with malicious intent may be responsible for its placement. The police are calling the incident a provocation and have started an investigation to identify the accused.
“It seems to be the hand of miscreants. We are investigating the matter,” said a police officer involved in the case.
In an attempt to collect evidence, the Assam Police seized a partially torn ULFA-I flag after it was removed from the bamboo fence. The flag will be further examined as part of the ongoing investigation, which aims to shed light on the motivations behind the outrageous act.
