
In Kokrajhar, hideouts two KLO freedom-fighters killed in encounter
GUWAHATI: Security forces along with the police dealt a major blow to the Kamtapur Liberation Organization (KLO) on Monday when they killed three militants in an alleged encounter and raided a hideout in eastern Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Monday night. A freedom-fighter of the organization was arrested.
The slain KLO militants have been identified as Abhijit Deka of Rowta and Nipon Roy of Bongaigaon.
Acting on specific information about the presence of KLO cadres, a team of police and security forces launched an operation in the deep forests of Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary in Kokrajhar district, police officials said.
On seeing the team, the KLO militants opened fire and the police retaliated in which two militants were killed.
A KLO freedom-fighter who was injured in the encounter was captured on the spot. Police sources said that four workers of the organization managed to escape from the spot.
The police busted the hideout of the banned outfit inside the Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary. Security forces recovered two pistols, two knives, two knives, four mobile phones, some electrical wires and some incriminating documents from the hideout.
