In Kaziranga ULFA (I) pro holds talk with Assam government

Guwahati: The pro-United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) negotiating faction held a meeting at JB Resort in Kaziranga, Kohora.

A delegation of the pro-ULFA negotiating faction, led by chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and Anup Chetia, was also present at the meeting for talks.
Meanwhile, the pro-negotiation side will also hold a press conference at 4:30 p.m. To brief the media.
Earlier on August 18, tripartite peace talks involving the central government, the Assam administration, and the pro-United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) negotiating faction were held in Delhi today.
Speaking to India Today NE, Anup Chetia, general secretary of the pro-negotiation faction of the ULFA (I), said that the talks have not been completed yet. In the meeting, all topics including our demands were discussed in detail.
The main focus was on political issues and themes, especially the political rights of the indigenous Assamese people.
The topic of ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah was not part of the agenda of the meeting as the discussion was with the pro-negotiation faction and not the Paresh Baruah-led faction.
A total of 11 demands were presented. The meeting yielded positive results, in which interlocutor AK Mishra was present. Our ULFA delegation consisted of four members.
Anup Chetia also stated that the main agenda centered around discussion and advocacy for political concerns for its members who have laid down arms.
He stressed that while the talks were ongoing, the main emphasis was on the protection of political rights, a key concern for his faction.
