In Kangpokpi 500 people hospitalized due to fancy food poisioning

Imphal: At least 500 people, mostly children and women, were hospitalized on Sunday following fancy food poisoning in the Chalwa Kuki villa area of ​​Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.

According to initial reports from health officials, around 6.30 pm on Saturday around 1000 villagers took part in a grand feast as part of a local ritual and traditional festival.
The population of this village is around 1700. Immediately after that, at around 9 pm, complaints of vomiting, abdominal pain, nausea, chest pain, convulsions and diarrhea started appearing.
Local social civil organizations contacted the Assam Rifles battalion located nearby and a medical team was sent to provide treatment.
Seventy people who fell ill were given injections and life-saving drugs.

Two medical camps have also been opened for the treatment of patients. The cause of the food poisoning is still being investigated.
