
In Kamrup-Metro no alcohol sale, September 24 declare as Dry day
GUWAHATI: Liquor will not be sold on Sunday (September 24) in Assam’s Kamprup-Metro district, including Guwahati city.
This was announced by the Kamrup-Metro district administration in Assam through an order.
Sunday (September 24) will be observed as a “Dry Day” on the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardeva in Assam’s Kamrup-metro district, including Guwahati.
The office of the Kamrup-Metro District Commissioner (DC) said that September 24 will be treated as a “dry day” under Rule 326 (b) of the Assam Excise Rules, 2016.
“Accordingly, all Wholesale/Bonded Warehouse, Composite Licence/Microbrewery Licence, IMFL/Beer Retails ‘OFF’ and ‘ON’ shops including Club ‘ON’ and Country Spirit Shops of Kamrup Metropolitan District shall remain closed i.e. ‘Dry’. Day’, the order reads.
“Any violation of the order will be subject to penal action as per relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act and Rules,” it added.
