In Kampur Police’s Custody a detainee dies mysteriously

Nagaon: A detainee died under mysterious circumstances at Assam’s Kampur police station on Wednesday, officials said.

According to initial reports, the detainee fainted during police custody at Kampur police station in Assam’sNagoan district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Mati Prasad Bora. He was detained in a domestic violence case for allegedly assaulting his wife, authorities said.
While in custody at Kampur police station last night, detainee Mati Prasad Bora suddenly fainted. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared Mati Prasad Bora dead on arrival. The sudden death of a prisoner in police custody has been shrouded in mystery.

While the victim’s wife was inconsolable, a relative said, “We have not registered a case against him. We only asked the police to scare him as he used to beat his wife regularly. However, the police He was taken into custody and beaten.”
“Knowing that he had several medical conditions. Within half an hour they killed him,” the woman alleged.

Meanwhile, the doctor who treated the injured wife said, “The woman was brought with a cut on her hand which we treated. After a while, the husband reached the hospital. The police personnel present took him into custody. It happened around 11 pm last night.
“From there, the police took him away saying that they had to question him for killing his wife. About 15 to 20 minutes later, the police came again and woke me up for a medical examination. We have no other than this fact. Nothing suspicious was found that he was under the influence of alcohol, which he himself admitted,” the doctor added.
He added, “Then about an hour or two later, around 1 am, the police brought him and called me to check on him. They said he had suddenly become unconscious. I did the initial check. and even performed CPR after which I had to declare him dead and hand over the necessary paperwork to the constables. He was completely fit when first brought in but what happened in between is a mystery to me. It is suspected that he died of a heart attack.”
