In Imphal west three suspicious freedom fighters arrested

Imphal: Three activists of two banned insurgent groups were arrested along with some incriminating documents and three mobile phones in the sensitive border state in Manipur’s Imphal West on Thursday, police said.

In an operation conducted by the Imphal West District Police at Larenkabi Maning Leikai under Lamsang Police Station, two activists of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-PRO (PREPAK-PRO) were arrested along with some incriminating documents and two mobile phones. Arrested, the police stressed.
The arrested workers have been identified as Chandam Chandramani Singh alias Gambhirsingh (45) and Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei (46), both residents of Lairenkabi village.
Chaudhary Chandramani’s arrest led to the arrest of S. Khumba. After that, some incriminating documents and two mobile phones were recovered from him, police said.

Chaudhary Chandramani revealed to the police that he worked under the command of a khambaton for about a year.
He was also in police custody in 2001 when he was a cadre of the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL).

Police said they were responsible for launching an extortion campaign in the heart of Imphal city for the past few years.
Police added that both the arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to Lamshang Police Station for further legal action.

In another joint operation, the Assam Rifles and Bishnupur district police commandos arrested an active cadre of the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), unnamed, in a raid on a hideout in Kumbi in the southern part of the state. Has not been done. Thursday.

The arrested person was handed over to Kumbi police station for necessary legal action along with the recovered items.
