Imphal West: A mini truck (Tata 407) allegedly trying to transport household goods from Old Lambulane in Imphal West to Keithelmanbi was set ablaze by a huge mob on Sunday morning.
The incident took place around 6 am in Sagoltongba area, about 50 meters from the south side of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road.
The truck, whose registration number was MN03T 1726, was reportedly loaded with household items including tables, chairs, utensils, furniture and others.
Credible sources reported that some people chased the truck from Imphal, and it was stopped at Sagoltongba area on NH-37.
A huge mob gathered and set the truck with loaded items on fire, just 50 meters from the southern side of the highway, sources said. , which was followed. By the team of Manipur Fire Service, to douse the fire.
Sources further said that during the incident, all the goods inside the truck were burnt and the truck was also partially damaged.
The exact reason why the truck was taking the items to Keithelmanbi is not yet known.
According to sources, the owner of the vehicle has been identified as 45-year-old Hirom Pilot Singh, son of (L) H Yaima Singh, a resident of Heingang Panthoibi Lampak.
The truck was being driven by 60-year-old Md Firoz Khan son of Md Abdul Gani Khurai Khomidok Irom Mapan and a co-driver, 29-year-old Muhammad Athoiba son of Md Imu of Khurai Khomidok Umang Leikai, sources added.
